Q: Frying chicken in a deep fryer recipes??
I am going to use a deep fryer for some boneless chicken breasts and some “drumsticks” – I really have no idea how to concoct a batter/breading…any suggestions are appreciated! Thanks

A: This can be made in a deep fryer. If frying fish, pancake batter works well.

Cajun Fried Chicken

4-5 boneless chicken breasts, boneless pork chops, or any chicken with bone in
1 cup of self-rising flour, unsifted
1 tsp garlic salt
1 tsp cayenne pepper
1tbs Dijon mustard
1/3 cup Tabasco
¼ cup water
1 – 1 ½ cups oil, for frying

Combine cayenne pepper, mustard, Tabasco, and water in plastic container or gallon size zip lock bag. If you pierce chicken with a fork first it will be a lot spicier (don’t do this unless you like it HOT!). Place chicken in marinade, turning to coat well. Marinate for no more than 1 hour, turning frequently.

Combine self-rising flour and garlic salt in a plastic bag or container. Add chicken to coat, one at a time is best. I use tongs so my hands don’t get messy.

Heat vegetable oil in large skillet on medium high heat.

Fry chicken pieces, turning once, for about 15-20 minutes total. Remove from pan immediately and keep warm. If you use regular pieces of chicken, with bone in, cook for at least 30-45 minutes, or until done.

Serving Suggestions:
Garlic flavored pasta or garlic mashed potatoes and green beans or broccoli.

Q: Deep fry recipes?
Recently got into cooking, I especially like to try deep fry.
Recently I tried oreos and apple slices and am thinking about twinkies. Does anyone have any other yummy ideas for deep frying?

A: I always wanted to try this recipe. If you make it let me know how they turned out.

Banana Dumplings

2 bananas, peeled and sliced
1 c. flour
1 c. milk
1 1/2 tsp sugar
1 egg beaten
1 tsp. baking powder
2 tbsp vegetable oil

In a bowl, mix all the ingedients. Mix well until you get a thick mixture. Slide all your chopped banana pieces into the mixture. Deep fry. A little bit of mixture will spread around the banana piece and that’s good.
Turn each dumpling after 1-2 minutes, so both sides are done well. As soon as the dumplings are golden brown, remove them from oil, and drain on paper towels. I might sprinkle them with powder sugar.

Edit: I just found this recipe from
I’m so excited. I cant wait to try this.

Fried Icecream

1/2 c. caramel syrup
6 oz corn flakes
1/2 gallon vanilla icecream (i might experiment with different flavors)
12 oz cool whip (optional)
maraschino cherries (optional)
vegetable oil

Mix caramel with cornflakes until sticky. Scoop out icecream and apply cornflake coating to cover icecream. Store any leftover coating in refrigerator. Immerse icecream ball in hot oil for 15-20 SECONDS. Remove from oil and place in a dish; topped with cool whip and a cherry.

Its nice to know that I am not the only one who enjoys deep fried yummies. =0}

Q: Any good deep fry food recipes?
going to a fry fest and want to take something to fry, snickers, twinkies, do you batter them or freeze them or what? best meats?

A: Twinkies you don’t have to freeze, but Snickers must be frozen or the chocolate will run everywhere. They gotta be battered.

I like the classic chicken tenders, they’re always good.

My personal favorite, is deep-fried cheesecake. Its so fattening, but so good. Take a cheese cake and make them into two-bite size pieces. Take a wonton wrapper and tightly wrap them in it, throw it ina deep-fryer until golden. About 2 minutes.

Q: Anyone have a great french fry recipe that does not require deep frying?
I would rather bake them then fry them, less fat.
Both sounds good. Yumm. :)
Yes using ones tongue to turn over fries would be quite painful if not bizarre. Thanks for editing that for me. S*

A: The Best Oven Baked Fries

One way to reduce the calories and fat in French fries is to
slice your own potatoes,
spray them with a touch of olive oil
and bake them in the oven.

With a few simple twists, oven baked, homemade French fries can be just as tasty as the more decadent deep fried ones.

Here’s how to spice up oven baked French fries.

Oven baked French fries tip:
Honey mustard dip.

To create a delicious dip for your fries, mix a bit of fresh honey to your favorite brand of mustard and enjoy a break from your standard catsup.

You can buy honey mustard pre-made but it’s super easy to make your own at home and a lot cheaper too.

Step 2
Oven baked French fries tip:
Roasted garlic mayonnaise.

Add some freshly roasted garlic to fat free mayonnaise along with a little salt and pepper to create a unique and tasty dip for your hot fries. You’ll get lots of taste with a minimum of fat.

Step 3
Oven baked French fries tip: Barbeque sauce.

Another way to give the catsup a break is to dip your French fries in barbeque sauce.
Try this a few times and you may never go back to boring catsup. There are so many types of barbeque sauce on the market these days that you can have a different French fry every time.

Step 4
Oven baked French fries tip:
Low fat French onion dip.

Tired of eating your French fries with catsup?
Give the catsup a break and prepare some low fat, low calorie French onion dip for your fries.

To make the dip,
mix fat free mayonnaise with fat free sour cream.
Add a packet of dry onion soup mix along with a little salt and pepper and you’re ready to enjoy French fries with a whole new twist.

Step 5
Oven baked French fries tip:
Sprinkle with chili pepper.

Hot French fries can be sprinkled with a thin layer of chili pepper to add a subtle spiciness to the potatoes.
Try dipping them into catsup to which you’ve added some dried cumin for a unique flavor.

Step 6
Oven baked French fries tip:

Add a touch of salt and garlic.

The combination of salt and garlic sprinkled onto piping hot French fries fresh out of the oven tastes heavenly
. Just go light on the salt if you’re trying to keep your fries healthy.

Q: What is a very good recipe for deep frying pan fish?
Caught a bunch of bluegills and rockbass and would like to deepfry them for my family. I need a good, easy to prepare batter for them.

1 1/4 pounds sea bass fillets, skin on
Coarse salt and cracked black pepper
1/2 cup all-purpose flour, to coat fish
2 teaspoons olive oil

Unwrap fish but leave it on the butcher paper. Season with salt and pepper on flesh side only. Sprinkle generously with flour, and then shake off the excess.

Q: need recipe for deep frying shrimp?
i want to get dinner started.

A: Fried Shrimp

Makes 4 to 6 servings
A simple flour-and-water batter makes a delicious crispy crust for fried shrimp. Note that this type of batter will not brown much because it has no sugars or protein. For a deeper brown crust, try the beer batter (Vegetables: Fried Zucchini, step 2) or one made with eggs, such as in the next recipe. Another trick used by many restaurant chefs is to add a tablespoon of cooking oil left from the previous day’s frying to the pot. The reasons are complicated, but if you deep-fry a lot, it is worthwhile to keep some of the cooled leftover oil strained and refrigerated for the next time you fry. It does not keep indefinitely, however, and you should always smell the oil before using it to be sure that it is still fresh.
Serve these shrimp as a main dish or appetizer. If you like, whole green beans, strips of zucchini or peppers, or other vegetables can be fried in the same way. Also good are whole parsley, basil, or sage leaves.

1 cup all-purpose flour
1 1/2 teaspoons salt
3/4 cup (about) cold water
1 1/2 pounds medium shrimp, shelled and deveined
Vegetable oil for frying

1 Put the flour and salt in a medium bowl. Gradually add the water, stirring with a wire whisk until smooth. The mixture should be very thick, like sour cream.

2 Rinse the shrimp and pat them dry. Line a tray with paper towels.

3 In a deep heavy saucepan, pour enough oil to reach a depth of 2 inches, or if using an electric deep-fryer, follow the manufacturer’s directions. Heat the oil to 370°F. on a frying thermometer or until a drop of the batter placed in the oil sizzles and browns in 1 minute.

4 Place the shrimp in the bowl with the batter and stir to coat. Remove the shrimp one at a time and with tongs carefully place them in the oil. Fry at one time only as many shrimp as will fit without crowding. Cook the shrimp until very lightly golden and crisp, 1 to 2 minutes. Drain on the paper towels. Fry the remaining shrimp in the same way. Serve hot with lemon wedges.

Q: Deep Fryer Recipes?
Just got a deep fryer for Christmas. Need some recipes: All purpose batter for vegetables, Fried Chicken Recipe, Dessert Recipes. Can you use Bisquick as a batter. Can you deep fry puff pastry? Any tips will help. Thanks and Merry Christmas!

A: Puff pastry can be deep fried. Use a low temp or it will burn. To do crab puffs that way:

Mix 1 package of cream cheese with 2 cups of crab. Wrap them into raviolli shaped pockets, pinch the sides, and fry them on each side until light brown on each side. MMMM!

Here is my beer batter for fish and onion rings:

1/2 bottle of Sam Adams Boston Lager or other beer
1/4 cup milk (or 1/2 cup of butter milk if you have it)
1/2 teaspoon garlic powder
1/2 teaspoon of salt
1 egg
Enough flour to give it the consistency of pancake batter.

We use this for sturgeon, clams, salmon, halibut, cod, or whatever. It is also mouthwatering for zucchini or mozzerella sticks.

Be sure to dip in the batter twice for good luck and drop carefully so as not to burn yourself. (I wear latex gloves for cleanliness and protection)

Used this recipe for years. Friends beg for it. Good luck and Happy Holidays!

Q: Good deep fried chicken recipes?
I have some Italian style bread crumbs and a BUNCH of chicken breasts, I want to deep fry them with a breading, but I don’t know any recipes and the ones I looked at don’t really seem to go well with BBQ sauce (big time BBQ people, just getting too cold). So, if you have any suggestions for a deep friend chicken that would go great with BBQ sauce let me know. If it’s a large complicated recipe please contact me on Yahoo via email or messenger.

A: all you need is is some plain flour, cracked black pepper and some lemon salt or pepper all mixed together in a bowl

dip chicken in eggs that have been whisked then coat with the above mixture…. deep fry and that’s it
